ADULT CAMOGIE TEAM: Our adult camogie team continue to make great strides. They played an experienced Annacurra team this week. The girls put in a really strong performance going down narrowly on a score line Annacurra 3-06 Eire Og Greystones 2-03

ADULT FOOTBALL: PEIL Division 1: 2 league points are 2 league points; therein lies the limit of the consolation which could be gleaned by their followers from ire gs victory over Br in the Division 1 game played in Na Clocha Liatha on Saturday evening last. The final score of 1-5 to 0-5 carries the suggestion of either massed defences or poor shooting. The former implies a strictly adhered-to order and what transpired on Saturday evening was anything but that.

Instances of coherent play were rare and meaningless opportunity-dissipating, cross-field passing and decision-making, as one critic remarked, was on par with that of an U-12 game. An ire g player put his finger on what might be described as the surrealistic atmosphere which attended this game when he expressed his feelings during the match as it was really strange out there, one just could not get ones head around the proceedings.

As to the poor shooting on the other had it could be said that with the closeness of the wide count between the teams the match would have been much more exciting if victory was based on this criterion!Further the fact that many of the misses were nearly scores would have added to the excitement.

Greystones had the upper hand throughout and should have come away with a much more comfortable victory but their lax play had them constantly living on the edge. Two incidents in particular stand out.ire g a few points up Br on the back-foot had possession near its goals, plenty of defenders on hand, aimless passing, ball turned over, a Br point.Injury time of 5 to 6 minutes nearly up ire g with a 2 point lead, a ball lobbed into ire gs square, confusion and panic in the ranks of the defenders, was the ball over the line or not? Relief a 45.

An ire g performance which is best forgotten and which would cause one to worry about the teams progress in the championship. To avoid player embarrassment anonymity will be adhered to except to mention that the victory determining goal was scored by young Sen Lawless.

WEDDING BELLS: Congrats to club senior footballer and hurler, Stephen Kelly on his engagement to Katie Graham this week. Stephen is also a dual county star, so finding a date for the wedding wont be easy! http://bit.ly/2b8PPrL

UP IT GOES: Two more people were thinking what might have been this week. Both Geraldine Kelly and Patricia Murphy who matched 3 of the 4 winning numbers. While they shared 200, they just missed out on the top prize of 10,200. Next weeks jackpot is 10,400. Tickets are just 2 and are available at www.eireoggreystones.com

ADULT HURLING: Our junior hurlers (second adults team) bowed out of the championship this week, as they went down to a stronger Avondale side. They went down 2-19 to 1-14 which wasnt a fair reflection of the score, following a good effort by the lads.
