Message from the chairperson

The season is now in full swing with all our teams competing strongly in their leagues as they build towards championship.

I don’t often single out individual teams, but I must acknowledge our two sides who proudly represented both club and county at Féile. For those unfamiliar, Féile is a national under‑15 festival of games, and taking part creates memories and a sense of belonging that stays with players long into adulthood.

Events like Féile are a major driver of our club’s rapid growth. The pride and connection it fosters among young players is a big reason our membership continues to rise, and why additional playing space has become essential.

Last year, the club agreed to purchase lands at Bellevue to support this growth, and we had begun progressing the project. Unfortunately, due to circumstances outside our control, we can no longer proceed with that purchase.

Although this is a setback, our commitment to securing new playing areas remains firm. We know how important this investment is for the future of the club, and we are actively continuing our search. I will keep members updated as soon as we have any news.

Féile Glory for Boys U15 footballers and camogie teams 

What an amazing couple of weeks it's been for two of our juvenile teams.

On 20 June or U14 camogie team travelled to Carlow to compete in the national Féile competition. Reaching the Shield final, they couldn’t be separated after extra time versus Cillard from Kerry, so trophy was shared.

While on 27 June our U15 boys produced a memorable day of football in Derry last Saturday to be crowned All-Ireland Féile Peile na nÓg Division 4 champions, following a superb campaign built on resilience, teamwork and composure under pressure.

With short games, quick turnarounds and little margin for error, every score and every defensive effort mattered. Both teams showed their class by bringing the trophy home. Both these groups are a credit to the county, club, community and themselves.

U14 camogie team clinch league crown

Huge congratulations to our amazing girls on winning the Division 3 U14 Final in Ballinakill on 9 June.

What a match—it had everything! From start to finish it was a brilliant, hard-fought game that went right down to the wire and even into extra time Nail-biting stuff for everyone watching!

The team showed incredible determination and teamwork throughout. After going a point down in extra time, they dug deep and never gave up. Mae stepped up with an incredible free that dropped straight into the net with just three minutes to go!

Every single player played their part—working tirelessly, supporting each other, and giving it absolutely everything. It was a true team performance and a joy to watch. Such hard work, such spirit, and such a well-deserved win.

Wicklow head to Croke Park this weekend for the Tailteann Cup final next weekend.

So, we’re wishing all the team, and especially our club's representative Joe Prendergast all the best.

Joe made a major contribution when introduced in the semi-final against Offaly.

Blast from the past

Take a look at the 1977 Greystones U12 team, who put on a masterclass to defeat a gallant Dunlavin side on a score line of 6-6 to 4-4 in an absolute thriller of a County Championship Final.

Goals win games, and this legendary crew certainly knew how to find the back of the net to bring the silverware home!
