Éire Ă“g to host SCĂ“R na nĂ“g Wicklow finals For the first time, Éire Ă“g will host the SCĂ“R na nĂ“g, County Wicklow finals. The big night will be in the Autumn with the date and venue to be confirmed. SCĂ“R is a GAA competition that combines all the colour and rivalry of Gaelic Games with the social/fun element of Ireland’s traditional pastimes.
There are eight events/disciplines in SCĂ“R that cover all aspects of Irish culture: Figure/CĂ©ilĂ Dancing, Solo Singing, Ballad Group, Recitation/ScĂ©alaĂocht, Nuachleas/Novelty Act, Instrumental Music, Set Dancing and Table Quiz. The competition is divided into two age levels, SCĂ“R na nĂ“g, for young people under 17 and SCĂ“R Sinsir, for those over 17. Clubs taking part in SCĂ“R send club representatives to compete at County level with the winners going on to the Provincial final. Those successful go on to the All-Ireland Final. Éire Ă“g’s participation in SCĂ“R na nĂ“g and SCĂ“R sinsir has grown steadily and our club has made great progress with entries in the instrumental music, figure dancing, solo singing, table quiz and set dancing competitions. Last spring, the club earned its first SCĂ“R county medal for Set Dancing. So this is a call to all our members to get behind SCĂ“R! Contact 087-768-7241 or seos.daly@gmail.com |
