D-DAY FOR SENIOR FOOTBALLERS: Our senior footballers kick off their championship campaign this Friday (15th) when they play St Patricks in Arklow at 7:30pm. All support would be appreciated.

U14 GIRLS GRIND OUT WIN: Our U.14 Girls travelled to Dunlavin last Saturday evening for a league match with St Nicks. They came away with a win by 5-05 to 4-05.

We played against the fairly strong wind in the first half and were relatively happy to be level at 2 gls and 2 pts each with both goals coming from Eva Megannety. However, an injury to half forward Jayne Merren who was very influential in the first half was a big loss for the remainder of the game. We took the lead after ten minutes of the second half with a well taken goal by Ella Horgan and 2 pts from Iseult Brosnan who was having a great game at centre field alongside Sophie Fitzgerald.

The two of them battled away all during the game against a strong St Nicks midfield pairing. However, the game then turned in favour of St Nicks with two quick goals and two points. A point from Kerri Williams was cancelled out by a point from St Nicks. That left Eire Og trailing by a goal with ten minutes to go. Ciara Mc Donnell who had played in goals in the first half and the early part of the second was switched to the full forward line with Alana Ni Sheain taking over between the posts as a more than able deputy.

With the back line of Megan Maguire, Alice O Neill, Fay Evans, Chloe Leonard and Eva Sterritt tightening up the defence it was left to the forwards to save the game. A goal from Ciara Mc Donnell, after some good work by the other forwards including Caitlin Lynch with eight minutes to go levelled the scores. Both teams had chances to take the lead which were not availed of until Ciara Mc Donnell with her second goal, scored what proved to be the winning goal for the Eire Og girls with three minutes left in the game. A great game of football between two evenly matched teams, the result of which was in doubt to the very end.Coincidentally we have been drawn to play St Nicks in the first round of the championship at end of Aug, a game to look forward to.

U16 HURLERS FALL JUST SHORT: – North District (Eire Og/Kilcoole) 2-12 Bray Emmets 5-13. A gutsy performance by our lads this evening in Greystones against a strong Bray Emmets team. It was a very entertaining game between two teams full of talented hurlers. Bray caught us out with 2 early goals, and while we recovered well, we couldn’t quite reel them in. There was some great point scoring by both sides, in conditions that exacerbated in the 2nd half. Well done Bray Emmets on a deserved win, and to our lads who put it up to them throughout. Squad: Oisin Curry, Shane Ryan, Marwan Machalaani, Drew Campbell, Neil Browne, Brian Shortt, Conor Odlum, Leo Hanney, Shaun Cranley, Eoin Dorgan, Joe McDonald, Glen Dunne, Luke Dorgan, Thomas Moorehouse, Denis Burke & Fionn Mansfield.See team photo at http://bit.ly/29EZeEC
