INDOOR SCHOOLS ACTION: An indoors Gaelic football blitz for scolir from 3rd to 4th classes sa bhunscoil organised by Gareth Doyle of Wicklow GAA was run off very successfully and with commendable efficiency on two pitches in the Shoreline Gym on Friday last.
Six schools took part, viz., Moneystown, Newtown, Ashford together with St. Patricks, St. Kevins and St. Laurences from Greystones. The blitz has a seven-a-side, no dead-ball format, with players allowed to pick the ball from the ground and one solo only being permitted. Its purpose was to allow the ninety or so children who participated to experience the joy and invigoration to be derived from the playing of the danta in irinngame: there were no winners of losers on the morning so any urgings were positive. Players were substituted on a regular basis and thus every child got plenty of game time.
